On February 1, 1952, the Commissioner of the RCMP approved the new “Royal Canadian Mounted Police March Past”. Although the North West Mounted Police was founded in 1873, the RCMP did not have a Regimental March Past of its own until this time. Professor Charles O’Neill (retired Director of Music of the Vandoos Band) of the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto was asked to write an original march for the RCMP Band. His composition skillfully includes the RCMP bugle call.
